What is Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)?
Fees Required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Regulations
Payment goes to forty-one states and is managed through the federal sanctioned UCR Board.It is based on a calendar year basis January through December. You pay the same free in Jan that you do in December. Nothing is prorated. Fees are based on the number of power units.
Applies to all interstate commercial motor vehicles over 10,001 GVWR. with interstate USDOT numbers.
Also applies to licensed Property Brokers and Freight Forwarders with USDOT numbers
Enforcement by state and local officers with significant fines and shut down are possible.
If your or your company have not paid your UCR there can be fines and also shut down of the vehicles until the fees are paid. That could take up to one day or more. 2018 Enforcement begins April 5th right after midnight.
UCR Fees Based on Vehicles Count on your USDOT Number Profile
If your payment does not meet the minimum number of vehicles on your USDOT profile, the states can ask for proof by vehicles and VIN that did not cross state lines according to a specific format.
